The Athenaeum Club, one of Melbourne's most prestigious establishments, is seeking a Full Time Kitchen Steward to join its professional team.

As part of the Kitchen Team, you will be responsible for the cleanliness and sanitising of all surfaces, the washing of crockery, cutlery, kitchen utensils and heavy kitchen equipment, rubbish removal and keeping floors and areas free of obstruction and hazards, ordering and receiving of chemicals and cleaning materials. Reporting to the Senior Steward you will be responsible for the operation of commercial dishwashers, while maintaining compliance with health and hygiene regulations and ensure guidelines are followed for timely and five star level service.

The ideal candidate will be energetic, friendly, organised, enjoy working in a team environment and be passionate for maintaining a clean and safe environment. The ideal candidate would have cleaning experience and an understanding of Food Safety. You will be flexible with your roster and be able to work on, weekdays, mornings, evenings, public holidays and weekends when required. Rostering is done on a set rotating roster.

Ideally you will have a minimum of 1 year experience in a restaurant or hotel environment. This is a physically demanding role that requires you to be fit, healthy, and capable of some heavy lifting. You will also require a strong work ethic and a reliable and honest attitude to both work and your colleagues. You will need to have the ability to follow instructions quickly and clearly, have a calm and confident manner under pressure and have good personal grooming and hygiene
