Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Food Services Assistant to join Food Services.

Details of Department

The Food Services Department is an in-house service, which provides food for all campuses of Austin Health. Currently we are producing a combination of approximately 3000 cook / fresh and cook / chill meals a day for patients.

Details of position/position requirements:

Role Specific:

  • Plating & delivery of patient meals.
  • To provide a high level of customer /patient service.
  • Dishwashing and general and/or specific cleaning duties.
  • Food and beverage preparation.
  • Special fluid preparation.
  • Removal of rubbish and linen.
  • Replenish stock as required.
  • Monitor and record Food Safety Records as per Food Safety Plan requirements.
  • Alert any discrepancies with the Food Safety Records to the shift supervisor immediately.
  • Any other duties as directed by Supervisor.
  • To attend meetings and training sessions as required.

To be successful in this role you must demonstrate/Key responsibilities will include:

Applicants who are available to work across 7 days, AM and PM shifts are encouraged to apply.

Shifts are: 5.00am to 11.45pm, 6.30am to 2.30pm, 8.00am to 3.00pm and 1.15pm to 8.45pm

Food Services requires casuals who can work across many shifts and also available at short notice. No fixed days or set shifts.

Key responsibility is to deliver high customer service to patients and key stakeholders within Austin Health, work within a team ensuring 100% accuracy in patient meal assembly, able to following food safety guidelines and records, following instructions from your supervisors, problem solving skills and reporting any issues to your supervisor. Dishwashing duties are also included. It is imperative that all food services staff abide to the Austin's Code of Conduct and demonstrate Austin values.

Must have Food Safety Certificate.
