ABOUT THE COMPANY AND ROLE
Operating in the building supplies and services sector, our client operates at the top end of the market. With a diverse and successful client base, the company has seen exponential growth in the market over the last 3-4 years, seeing their national production and sales increase to a revenue of over $200m. As part of their vision for continued growth, they are seeking a driven and self-motivated Group Accountant to join the team. The successful incumbent will report directly to the Group Financial Controller.
DUTIES
- Prepare and present annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, monthly P&L results, balance sheets & cash flow;
- Co-ordination of the annual audit, ensuring that internal & external audit findings are implemented;
- Ensure all tax requirements are fulfilled (FBT, GST & Company Tax);
- Provide effective competitive support to State General Managers;
- Formulate sound finance policies, processes & procedures;
- Set KPIs and then monitor & measure performance;
- Provide support to managers within the business, particularly the Financial Controller;
- Prepare, review and distribute monthly financial results and analytics to key stakeholders;
- Assist with implementation of new financial systems within the business;
- Maintain consistent application of accounting reporting throughout the business;
- Review monthly management accounts for divisions within the business;
- Complete trend analysis and understanding key business drivers;
- Prepare, monitor, review and approve all general ledger transactions to assess accuracy of information; and
- Support management with other ad-hoc reporting as required.
SKILLS & EXPERTISE
- Tertiary qualification/s in a relevant discipline and either CA or CPA qualified;
- Have proven technical ability in all areas of reporting in a previous role, including financial reporting, statutory accounts and month end;
- Management accounting experience;
- Display acute attention to detail;
- Demonstrate strong commercial acumen;
- Possess intermediate to advanced Excel skills; and
- Above all, have a high level of energy, be driven to achieve success and enjoy the challenge of continuously improving a business on the rise.
