The Langham Melbourne is currently seeking an experienced Catering & Events Sales Executive to join our team.


About the Role
This sales position is an integral part of a high performing hotel team, and a key contributor to the hotel's ongoing success. This role's primary function is to grow the Catering and Events business. The successful candidate for this role will have demonstrated sales success in a similar position in a Five Star Hotel. A minimum of two years experience in a similar role required.

The key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Participate and provide direct input into the strategic business and sales plan for the Catering Budget.
  • Achieve personal Catering & Event revenue goals as outlined.
  • Execute pro-active sales activities including daily prospecting calls, local sales calls and site inspections.
  • Work closely with the Director of Catering & Events to analyse & identify future soft spots sufficiently in advance to implement activities to fill the revenue gaps and to effectively yield manage the product to ensure greatest profit possible when booking all function and room (meeting and accommodation) space.
  • To maintain and grow the Catering and Events business through servicing new and existing clients; conversion of function enquiries into confirmed business and maximise clients total spend by using up selling techniques.
  • Administration of all conference business with close liaison with client, MICE Sales Department, Reservations, Food & Beverage, Events and Rooms division..
  • Effective and consistent use of DELPHI sales and catering systems and reporting.
  • Monitor all correspondence to ensure it meets with Hotel's policies and procedures.
  • Ensure there is a strong interface between Kitchen, Operations, and Sales departments
  • Attend daily briefings, weekly catering meetings, and any other meetings as required.

Reporting directly to the Director of Catering & Events, this is a demanding role with great rewards and previous experience in a Hotel Catering Sales Department or similar is essential.
