About the role

We have casual positions available for Catering Assistants at St Patrick's Green, Kogarah. You will be responsible for providing support to the daily running of the village and being compliant with food safety programs.

The activities you will undertake in a typical day include:

  • In accordance with housekeeping practices, maintain adequate standards of hygiene and tidiness in all areas of the Village including the residents’ rooms, community and public areas, kitchen, laundry and dining area.
  • Correct and safe handling of equipment and chemicals.
  • Assist with the preparation and serving of meals and beverages.
  • Safe handling, cleaning and use of kitchen equipment.
  • Compliance with Food Safety Programs.
  • Cleaning floors, cold rooms, store rooms and other areas of the kitchen facility.
  • Deliver meals, food and beverages to the dining areas.
  • Prepare and maintain resident dining areas.
  • Obtain residents’ daily menu selections for the Chef.
  • Maintain adequate stocks of food and chemicals in the servery.
  • Assist with the collection of residents’ food and beverage selections.
  • Pursue training and development opportunities to improve job skills and effectiveness.
  • Participate in identification and implementation of continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensure the completion of all allocated responsibilities and tasks as required.
  • Ensure a high standard of care, customer service and a culture that represents the mission and values of Greengate.

Criteria

To be considered for the role you will need:

  • Certificate 3 in relevant hospitality course
  • Food Safety Awareness
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
  • A passion and commitment to aged care and an affinity for the aged
  • Current National Police Certificate
  • Eligibility to work in Australia
