Job Vacancy

We currently have an opportunity for a Quality Chemist to join the team and contribute to the day to day running of our Yarraville plant to cover maternity leave for 12 months on a fixed term, part-time contract.

The position will report to the Quality Supervisor.

This position will be responsible for the running and maintenance of the laboratory, ensuring all day to day activities are completed including production samples are of appropriate quality and disposition and analysed in a timely and accurate manner.

Additionally you will be actively involved in equipment maintenance and supply management including ensuring all laboratory equipment is calibrated and verified as well as ensuring that stock levels of lab supplies are managed correctly.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect and prepare samples for testing
  • Testing of alcohol and solvent samples
  • Perform standard laboratory tests such as GC, GCMS, Density, Karl Fischer, UV testing etc.
  • Collection of data for analysis
  • Maintaining a clean laboratory and good housekeeping
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Quality Supervisor
  • Safety requirements must be met by adhering to the Workplace Health & Safety and Environment Act.

In addition, the successful candidate must demonstrate an ability and willingness to:

  • Have knowledge of quality control standards & procedures
  • Organise work within the required time schedules
  • Work safely and look after the safety of others in the area
  • Communicate effectively
  • Work in conjunction with day work Laboratory personnel
  • Ability to work both unsupervised and in a team based environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products

To be successful for the position, you should have:

  • Minimum BSc.
  • GC/GCMS practical experience is preferred
  • Experience with calibration and verification of laboratory equipment and instrumentation will be highly regarded
  • Provide a quality service to all external customers and internal stakeholders including a solution focused attitude
